This band really brought an ‘80s festival vibe with this set, including their signature synth sound, high energy performance, hair blowing in the wind under a sunny blue sky, retro-style clothes, etc. Vocalist Kenny Leckremo took it upon himself to climb up the rafters, reaching nearly the top of the stage, and singing to the crowd from above. Off to the third show of the hour, it’s Dangerous Toys with their second MORC set. Playing tunes mainly from their first album, as well as a select few songs from later albums, it’s clear that straight up southern sleaze rock is running through the veins of these 5 musicians.
Theme Weeks
Located on the north coast of Jamaica, the town of Ocho Rios is adorned with beautiful golden beaches juxtaposed against its jungle-covered mountains. This backdrop allows for a myriad of unique excursions for guests to enjoy (including river rafting and tubing, swimming with dolphins, or exploring the Green Grotto Caves), relaxing on the beach, or a day enjoying Jamaican rum and local cuisine. Ocho Rios is famous for Dunn’s River Falls, Jamaica’s national treasure, where guests can spend the day scaling this spectacular waterfall or exploring its limestone rocks while relishing in the refreshing pools along the way. Another of Sweden’s finest melodic rock bands aboard the MORC this year, H.E.A.T. performed their second set of the week on the Pool Stage mid-afternoon.

Black N’ Blue – Pool Stage – 11 PM
Main dining room meals are included, as are most performances, but everything else will set you back extra. Those extras are onshore activities like jet skiing and coral tours; non-dining room meals when you’re craving a change of pace; drinks at one of the onboard bars. You can’t bring your own snacks or bevvies aboard, so you’re relying on Royal Caribbean pricing for get-rocked levels of liquor. After a few tunes at Rare Hare, I headed to the Theater for one of my favorite bands.
Elton John Returns To Billboard Hot 100 For First Time In 20 Years
On a stage completely filled with smoke, these Las Vegas rock n’ rollers perform all their classic tunes, some from each of their first two records, as well as Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” After more than 30 years, Slaughter are still stickin’ it to ya out on the road and evidently out on the high seas as well. Promoter On the Blue Cruises has announced the five-day/five-night full-ship music charter will set sail March 2 - 7, 2024 aboard Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas® and depart from the Port of Miami, Florida. I was at the first show Peck performed with the band in October last year, and it’s incredible to see how far he’s come with Firehouse, clearly having grown vocally and becoming much more comfortable performing to large audiences. The young singer has the perfect voice to replicate Snare’s tone and range and executes the songs well. From Atlantis Aquaventure and Dolphin Encounter tours to relaxing at Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day, the Bahama Islands are magnificent and Nassau is their crown jewel ‒ guaranteed to make MORC ‘24 a vacation experience to remember. The second stop on MORC ‘24 is Nassau, who’s port just got an extensive $300 million makeover ‒ taking almost four years to complete. Plus, official cruise host Eddie Trunk (VH1, SiriusXM) and a cast of other hosts who will be moderating Q&A’s and a bevy of activities onboard. Another special guest performance this MORC took place during this set, with Hardcore Superstar’s Jocke Berg singing the Toys’ biggest hit, Scared, with the band. Spread Eagle

Spanning the length of Deck 5, the four-story boardwalk allows guests to stroll into restaurants and cafés, stop in to do some shopping, and grab a drink before the next show. Since beginning her career in 2019, she has made waves in the live music scene and the digital world, playing legendary stages such as the Whisky A Go-Go and Monsters of Rock Cruise, as well as accumulating over 1 million views across online platforms. In addition to her blossoming music career, she showcases her passion for music through concert photography and journalism. From KISS to Foo Fighters to Yungblud, Shannon has captured rock royalty through her lens. Just after 7 PM, Slaughter took on the Theater stage for their first show on this Monsters of Rock Cruise. Presently, the group features original members Mark Slaughter on vocals and Dana Strum on bass, as well as longtime guitarist Jeff Blando, and behind the kit, they’ve got one of the best modern rock drummers as far as I’m concerned, Jordan Cannata.
Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas
This week will see the debut of Jakobs Castle, the return of classic rockers Blue Öyster Cult, Mark Knopfler and James, as well as new... After being so blown away by their first set on the boat, I had to make sure I made it for their second round. I sat on the stage left side of the theater with my bandmates and our friends in Spread Eagle, all appreciating the sheer talent and artistry on the stage before us. The Darkness gave another impeccable performance, but it would prove to be a controversial one. The band started quite late, to no fault of their own – as singer Justin Hawkins would make abundantly clear.

Cabins are available via the MORC website, where you will find additional information regarding bookings. The complete lineup features over 30 acts, with other notable names including Glenn Hughes, Accept, Queensrÿche, Quiet Riot, Y&T, April Wine, TNT, Slaughter, FireHouse, Armored Saint, Richie Kotzen, Faster Pussycat, Dangerous Toys, Lizzy Borden, Enuff Z’Nuff, Spread Eagle, Black ‘N Blue, Bang Tango, and Tuff, among others. Day 3 was likely my most hectic day on the Monsters of Rock Cruise, as I attended nine shows, guitar teched for Black N’ Blue, and hung out at karaoke until the wee hours of the morning. The lineup for Monsters of Rock Cruise 2024 will also feature Queensryche, Quiet Riot, TNT, Vixen, H.E.A.T, and Kaleido, with the cruise host Eddie Trunk. Lacuna Coil have unveiled a video for their new single, "In The Mean Time," featuring Ash Costello of New Years Day.
Back in the day, Extreme created a never before seen musical style – combining hair metal with funk – and to this day they are still innovating, especially with their 2023 album. The deck is absolutely packed, ready to see the high-energy show the group is known for – and of course, this set was no different. Frontman Gary Cherone is nonstop, from one side of the stage to the other, climbing amplifiers and even climbing up onto the next deck and roaming around up there while still singing. What is there to say that hasn’t already been said about guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, the guy is untouchable when it comes to riffs, shred and tone. Bassist Pat Badger has a groove and pocket that perfectly matches drummer Kevin Figueiredo. With a myriad of events, activities, and music to keep fans entertained day and night, MORC ’24 promises to be a fantasy camp, personal paradise, and the vacation of a lifetime for hard rockin’ music enthusiasts.
Hawkins made quite a few playful jabs at Ace Frehley for supposedly being late, calling him a cunt several times and the audience cheering in agreement. The two would go on to take a photo and make a post together, squashing the beef that had arisen. Albums hitting shelves this week include the return of The Libertines, the final album from Cock Sparrer and the debut solo LP from...
Another classic rock icon took on Studio B after KK’s Priest, legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. Coming off the heels of a new studio album release, Frehley is performing on the Monsters of Rock Cruise. His band is made up of incredibly talented musicians, guitarist Jeremy Asbrock, bassist Ryan Cook and drummer Scot Coogan. With a classic Ace combo; a Les Paul and big ‘ol sunglasses, this guitar hero takes on a bunch of popular KISS songs, as well as some solo tunes. On March 2nd, departing from Miami, Florida on the Roal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas, making it’s way to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Nassau, Bahamas before returning on March 7th. Eddie Trunk will host next year’s event featuring over thirty artists, including Joe Satriani, Extreme, Ace Frehley, The Darkness, KK’s Priest, Queensryche, Accept, and more.
Spread Eagle is performing during the “brunch shift,” as singer Ray West called it since they went on at noon. With such a big stage at their disposal, the band took advantage – moving around, standing on the side subwoofers, getting right up front and interacting with the crowd. The two founding members, bassist Rob De Luca and vocalist Ray West, have an incredible musical chemistry that is so evident in their live performances. Not only that, but those two also mesh with drummer Rik De Luca and guitarist Jommy Puledda seamlessly – making for a powerhouse of a band. Black N’ Blue takes the stage on time at 11 PM on the Pool Stage, which means it’s my time to get to work as their guitar tech. The group is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut self-titled album by performing the release in its entirety.
